Last year COVID put an abrupt stop to our Blue September activities. This year we are back stronger (and ‘bluer’) than ever and rebooting the Mercy Radiology Blue Pledge.
The Blue Pledge is our take on the New Zealand Prostate Cancer Foundation’s 2022 campaign ‘Do something blue to help a mate through.’ So, we're doing something blue to help our workmates through!
We know this is a busy time, but we value the health of each member of the Mercy Radiology Team, and we want to encourage them to take a few hours out for their own health.
The Blue Pledge, in support of Blue September, is ultimately about increasing awareness about the importance of early detection and annual prostate checks in the fight against prostate cancer.
Taking time off on us to get checked
All our male employees 40 years of age with a family history of prostate cancer or are aged over 50 are encouraged to commit to taking the Blue Pledge by way of two hours of paid time off work to visit their GP to undergo an annual prostate check.
All other employees who don't fit the bill can join as well in standing up to prostate cancer and taking the Blue Pledge for the men (partner, brother, dad, grandpa) in their lives by encouraging them to get an annual prostate check too. Special tokens are at stake for those who are able to convince a man in their life to do the test!
We will paint the town blue!
Expect our branches to be blued-up as our way of supporting prostate awareness.
